Publications: Introduction
Peer-reviewed scientific publications
These publications are the result of my academic work of almost 40 years, and they constitute an important part of my creation and have a privileged place in these Collections.
In the academic world, a publication in a peer-reviewed journal can take up to 4 years from the start of the work to its publication. Among my publications, the one that took the longest time in this process was a work published in the magazine Biometrics. The work began in 2005, was first submitted for consideration for publication in January 2006 and accepted after three revisions in January 2008. It was finally published in the March 2009 issue.
On the other hand, the impact of a publication is initially measured by the prestige of the journal, but in the end, by the number of citations that this work obtains over the years from other works and scientific publications. The average number of citations varies greatly by discipline.
My academic work as a researcher has been focused on the development of new statistical methodology for data analysis and statistical applications in the field of health. My lines or areas of research can be grouped into:
Markov regression to model the evolution of chronic diseases.
Comparison of risk-adjusted results from clinical centers.
Evaluation of exposure to Arsenic by drinking water.
Development of models for longitudinal data with the purpose of classifying the clinical evolution of patients.
