Guillermo Marshall
Guillermo Marshall Rivera was born on November 26, 1959 in Santiago de Chile, son of Enrique Marshall Silva and Filomena Rivera Cruchaga and the youngest of 7 siblings. Married to Pilar Manríquez Rojas, with 3 children, Catalina, Guillermo and Santiago and 6 grandchildren.
He studied at the Colegio San Ignacio de Alonso Ovalle. Later he entered to the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where he studied a Bachelor of Mathematics and later obtained the title of Statistician. In 1990 he obtained a Doctor of Biostatistics degree from the University of Colorado. His professional career has always been related to academia, being a professor at the Catholic University from 1984 to the present and also Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado between 1990 and 1994.
He is currently Professor of the Faculty of Mathematics and the School of Medicine at UC. From 2010 to the present, he has held the position of Pro-rector of the UC, and prior to that, that of dean of the Faculty of Mathematics between 2004-2010.
As a researcher, his work has been focused on the development of statistical methodology and applications in medicine and epidemiology. His research areas can be classified into:

Evaluation of exposure to Arsenic by consumption of water.

Development of models for longitudinal data in order to classify the clinical evolution of patients.
As a result of this work, he has published more than 100 articles in international journals indexed according to Scopus and has more than 8,600 citations reported by Google Scholar .
